The blocks are being solved on an industrial scale now. With all that competition, I just can’t imagine how difficult it will be in a few years to mine this stuff. And with the rewards halving, how is this sustainable?
Miners will drop out and switch to other currencies, that will make the blocks easier to solve, and once again profitable.
Maybe overall, yes, but when the reward halves in less than two years it will be interesting to see how the market absorbs such a big change overnight. Since everyone knows it’s coming, maybe the change will have little effect.
Previous halvings of Bitcoin didn’t rock the boat too much.
